The British cyclist for Team Dimension is regarded as one of the best in the sport, having won across a range of events throughout his decorated career.

Cavendish, who turns 31 today, rose to prominence as a sprinter and has competed on the road since 2006.

In his first professional road cycling season, Cavendish earned 11 victories to pass the record held by Allessandro Petacchi.

He’s also won 26 Tour de France stages, which places him third on the all-time list, as well as the points classification at the prestigious event in 2011.

His other notable wins have come in the 2009 Milan-San Remo, the 2010 Vuelta a Espana and the 2013 Giro d’Italia.

When he returned to the track in 2015, Cavendish, along with Bradley Wiggins, won a third world championship title in the madison at the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
