Super Bowl XXXVII is sometimes referred to as the “Gruden Bowl”, because the primary storyline surrounding the game revolved around Jon Gruden.

Gruden was the Oakland Raiders’ head coach from 1998 to 2001, and then became the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach in 2002.

Tampa Bay, “Gruden’s new team”, entered their first Super Bowl in team history after posting a 12–4 regular season record. Oakland, “Gruden’s old team”, advanced to their fifth Super Bowl after posting an 11–5 regular season record.

Aided with Gruden’s prior knowledge of his old team, the Tampa Bay defence dominated the contest and run out 48-21 winners in Carolina.

2007: Liverpool confirmed they had received an approach from American businessman George Gillett ‘’which may or may not lead to an offer’’ for the club.

2008: Adam Gilchrist announced his retirement from international cricket.

2009: Andy Murray crashed out of the Australian Open, losing in five sets to Fernando Verdasco in the fourth round.

2014: Manchester United completed the club record £37.1 million (Dh194m) capture of Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata.
