Godolphin’s Persian King is on target for the French Guineas, the G1 Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains (1m), at Longchamp on May 12.

Trainer Andre Fabre is pleased with the three-year-old Kingman colt, who made all for an impressive success in the G3 Prix de Fontainebleau over the same course and distance on his reappearance last week.

Fabre said: “Persian King is in great form and on course to run in the French Guineas.

“The door is not entirely shut to Newmarket (G1, 1m, 2,000 Guineas, May 4) if there was a deluge at Longchamp. This is unlikely and therefore he is 90 per cent sure to run in France.”

Persian King, the highest-rated two-year-old trained in France last year, is unbeaten in four starts since finishing second on his racecourse debut.
