The Ralph Lauren International Ladies Polo Tournament 2014 started today (Thursday) at the Desert Palm, Dubai under the partronage and participation of Her Highness Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Here are the match reports from the inaugural day that contained three matches involving teams from all over the globe.

Match 1: Team North-America (Blue) vs Team Europe (Yellow) – Final Score 2-1

Here we are on the first day of the second Ralph Lauren International Ladies Tournament in Dubai witnessing a round-robin qualifier with three teams competing against each other in a 6-chukka match.

This first match will determine first qualifying place for the finals on Saturday and the winner of the round-robin.

First two chukkas from Team Europe vs Team North-America with captain of Europe, Princess Azemah and leading British female player Nina Clarkin were clear favourites to go in to the first qualifying match.

Team North-America put that expectation on hold with a 2-1 victory after a strong partnership was formed between Eva Bruehl from Germany, known in the polo world as The Terminator, and rising British star Hazel Jackson.

Match 2: Team UAE (pink) vs Team Europe (yellow) – Final Score 5-0

Third and fourth chukka saw Team UAE come out with a strong partnership from Argentina's Marianela Castagnola, Sunny Hale, US's No. 1 female player and Team UAE captain, Her Highness Sheikha Maitha Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum- the tournament patron with Ralph Lauren.

Team UAE performed in a confident manner as they earned a three-goal lead in the third chukka and then scored 2 more goals to seal a convincing 5-0 win.

Match 3: Team UAE (pink) vs Team North-America (blue) – Final Score 4-2

With the sun setting on the field at Desert Palm, Team UAE and Team North-America took to the final match of the round-robin.

Team UAE still had the momentum from the last match which followed through with a quick first minute goal, followed in the end chukka with another 2-goals bringing the score to 3-0 going into the 6th chukka.

North-America had a brief come back with 2 goals but the match was decided by Team UAE with a final goal to complete the rout with a 4-2 win.

Team UAE win the round-robin for today and head straight into the final match on Saturday.

North-America and Europe will battle it off on the second day to determine who will have a spot in the finals on Saturday.
