The general public are being given the chance to take part in the breeding of Dubai World Cup and Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome’s successor.

Fear not, there will be no hands on insemination, rather a public vote to pick a suitable mare for California Chrome to partner with and to follow the thoroughbred family’s journey through immersive experiences on the farm, along with other stable matters, and eventually buying shares in the foal.

Taylor Made Farm, one of Kentucky’s leading, innovative horse farms, is partnering with adventure magazine True.Ink to offer the experience.

Chrome, one of the most popular and wealthiest racehorses in recent history, retired in January to start his stud career.

The horse racked up an astounding $14.7 million in winnings in his career, including the Dubai World Cup in March last year.

That added to Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes glories – both in 2014 – for a horse twice named Horse of the Year.

“This project is a real opportunity for all of us to experience what it¹s like to not only own a horse, but learn about the process from conception to the racetrack, and share it all in real time,” said Duncan Taylor, President of Taylor Made. “The goal is to increase the amount of fun, joy and inspiration of breeding a horse, without the heaviness and stress of a big investment.”
