During the mid-season break, the Dubai Barracudas focused on the mental aspect of approaching their games and opponents.

The one gaffe the Barracudas had in an otherwise impressive first-half came against the Dubai Stallions in their final contest before the intermission.

The 12-0 shutout loss caused coach Kyle Jordan and his players to re-examine their mentality during their time off.

“Overall, we’re happy with our play. We didn’t end on the note we wanted to, but we’ve seen some areas we need to shore up,” Jordan said.

“We’ve also looked at how we come into game and how we approach it, with regard to the mentality of the players and coaches. We want to make sure that when we do line up to play, we’re ready to play and I don’t know if that was the case in our last game.

“We just have to be more mentally present.”

With fresh minds, as well as bodies, the Barracudas will take on the Abu Dhabi Wildcats tomorrow (Friday) in a re-match of Week 3.

In that meeting, Dubai edged out a 14-6 victory, handing the two-time defending champions their only loss so far.

The six points were also the least produced by Abu Dhabi’s offence and the Barracudas’ league-leading defence will try to repeat the feat.

Both sides have quarterbacks who can use their legs if needed, with Dubai’s Zavier Cobb having speed to burn and the Wildcats’ Perry Blackburn more of a bruiser.
