With the Emirates American Football League rapidly growing in popularity throughout the region, Sport360° decided that it was time to learn a bit more about the players taking the gridiron by storm.

This week we spoke to Dubai Stallions defensive end Andre Sommersell about his thoughts on the sport.

Favourite childhood memory of football: Terrell Owens celebrating by standing on the Dallas star.

Favourite player growing up: Emmitt Smith, Dallas Cowboys

Team you support and why: Dallas. I grew up enjoying watching them, I fell on the bandwagon in the early 90s.

Best player at the moment: Peyton Manning

A rule you would change: Advancing the kick-off.

Other sports you have played and to what standard: Basketball in high school, volleyball at varsity level and track and field in college and high school.

Greatest achievement in any sport: Five championships in college at Colorado State.

If you could be a pro in any sport and why: Football. I grew up with the sport.

Favourite meal: Spaghetti

Favourite place in the UAE: One place I enjoy is Girders, it’s a sports bar in Dubai and it’s where I have spent some time with some good friends.
