UAE Team Emirates rider Jan Polanc maintains lead in Giro d’Italia mountains classification

UAE Team Emirates’ Jan Polanc maintained his lead in the Mountains Classification at the end of the ninth stage of the 100th Giro d’Italia on Sunday.

The brutal Blockhaus climb was conquered by Nairo Quintana (Movistar) making him the General Classification leader.

The UAE outfit have a day off racing after nine hard stages and 1,667 km, as Monday will see the second rest day of the Giro before stage ten begins in Foligno.

Stage ten is a hilly Individual Time Trial on a route between Foligno and Montefalco and is the first of two at the Giro d’Italia. At 39.8km, the riders cover an undulating route with the last 4.5 kilometres going slightly uphill.
