The 2016 edition of the Beach Polo Cup Dubai, presented by Cadillac, will be held on April 1 and 2 and the event was recently launched by international polo stars Maxi Malacanza and Ariel Ponzi.

Over the weekend of April 1 and 2, a mix of Emirati and international players will take to a purpose-built beach venue at Skydive Dubai. The on-field chukkers will take place with the iconic Dubai Marina skyline as a backdrop.

Prior to the tournament, an exclusive, invite-only Player’s Night will take place on Thursday, March 31, at the Ritz Carlton, Dubai.

Day one of the tournament will feature two matches after the official opening ceremony, which is scheduled for 18:00. The day two action sees the semi-finals, the final and the prize ceremony.

“Each year the Beach Polo Cup Dubai attracts the local, regional and international polo community to Dubai for a signature showcase of our beach variation of the Sport of Kings,” said Gaby Katiela, tournament and event director.

“While the Beach Polo Cup Dubai maintains the prestige of the sport, the event strips away the old, privileged perception of polo in our luxury lifestyle concept that appeals to a younger and social crowd.”

The tournament will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and supported by Dubai Sports Council.
