Budding jiu-jitsu fighters can develop their skills and techniques this month at UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s training camp.

Aimed for youngsters bet-ween 13 and 15, the camps, which began on Monday in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, will be overseen by top Brazilian coaches Roberto Correa and Ramon Lemos. Brazilian Black Belt holder Correa will oversee the camp at Abu Dhabi’s IPIC Arena in two sessions.

The morning session starts from 09:00 to 12 noon and the second from 17:00 to 19:00. The Al Ain Camp will take place in Al Nahyaniya Hall with Lemos in charge. He is one of the most prominent professional jiu-jitsu coaches who began practising the sport from the age of five. His training camp begins from 09:00 to 12 noon, while the evening class is from 18:00 to 20:00.

It will run until August 27 and UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation general secretary Fahad Ali Al Shamsi insists there are plenty of positives to take home.

“These camps aim to provide more opportunities for players to learn the most from skilled trainers, refine their skills and create an ideal environment for training and exchanging experiences”, he said.

“The UAEJJF organises prominent professional jiu-jitsu coaches on a regular basis in order to improve their level and help them reach world standards.

“Also, to get players ready physically and mentally especially given that we are approaching the beginning of season 2015/2016.”

“The federation seeks to achieve its main objectives such as contributing to building a strong generation which can defend itself.”
