Amir Khan has confirmed that he has signed a deal to work with influential boxing advisor Al Haymon, the same man that has looked after the interests of Floyd Mayweather for several years.

The former music industry mogul has close ties with American television companies and the most powerful promoters, having helped numerous boxers realise their dream of becoming a world champion.

Khan had hoped to secure a lucrative showdown with Mayweather but the undefeated American instead decided to face Marcos Maidana on May 3 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Former light-welterweight champion Khan will fight on Mayweather’s undercard, when he faces the dangerous Luis Callazo, but he will undoubtedly be hoping that Haymon can help him secure a shot at the pound-for-pound number one.

Amir Khan explains to Sport360° why he feels he can beat Floyd Mayweather

Haymon currently works with a number of leading fighter, including Mayweather, Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia.

Speaking on the agreement, Khan said: “I am very happy to have signed with Al Haymon who has not only shown that he is a very astute businessman, but is extremely knowledgeable of the fight game and always has his fighters’ best interests at heart.

“I’m looking forward to building a long and successful relationship during this exciting stage of my career.”

Khan has been without an advisor for some time having parted company with long-time business manager Asif Vali last year.
