DESC students conquer Desert Warrior Challenge

On the face of it 10kg sandbags, a refuse skip full of ice and a 20m high net wall might have little place at a running event.

But they were all among the 24 obstacles facing the team of DESC – Tara Chan-A-Sue, Talal Alami, Rodrigo Bascaro and Sophie Sowerby – who tackled the inaugural Desert Warrior Challenge at the weekend.

Carefully designed to replicate the demands of military training courses, the obstacles were scattered across a 10km track and challenged competitors to climb, crawl, carry and clamber their way through tunnels, sand dunes, up ropes and through water hazards.
