Harlem Globetrotters promise to dazzle in UAE

Worldwide basketball legends the Harlem Globetrotters stepped onto Abu Dhabi turf yesterday, promising to entertain youths and families from the UAE on their three day-long tour at the end of the month.

Fresh from playing at the Brooklyn Nets’ Barclays Center – the first time the group have played in the New York borough – The Globetrotters will take to the courts in Dubai and Abu Dhabi between October 25-27.

Globetrotters, ‘Buckets’ Blakes and ‘Hi-Lite’ Bruton, opened the tour with a basketball demonstration at the Zayed Tennis Stadium in Abu Dhabi, performing tricks with local youth before stting off to meet the general public in the Wahda Mall and meeting the USA ambassador to the UAE.

The Globetrotters have played over 24,000 games in their 87 year history and will be taking their talents to the Dubai Tennis Stadium on October 25 and 26 before heading back to the Zayed Sports City Tennis stadium for October 27.

“We’re so looking for to [playing here],” said Highlight. ”We can’t wait to go back to the United States and tell everybody how good it was here for us and we can’t wait to play.”

The Globetrotters are an exhibition team that have lost just 345 times in over 24,000 games and boast esteemed alumni such as the legendary Wilt Chamberlain.
