  • As Usain Bolt’s disqualification from the 100m final at the World Championships continues to dominate the headlines, Sport360° asks the question – was  Yohan Blake responsible for the sprint king’s false start and subsequent DNQ?

Many have questioned whether Blake, Bolt’s Jamaican compatriot and training partner, should have been the one to be disqualified after slow-motion replays at the start of the race show the gold medal winner’s left leg twitch before Bolt pushed off from the blocks.

The IAAF rules state that once the athletes are in the “set” position, they must not move, and as Blake’s leg clearly twitched it could be argued he was at fault prior to Bolt springing out of the blocks prematurely.

Either way the incident has certainly cast a shadow over proceedings in Daegu with many urging the IAAF to scrap the ‘no second chance’ rule which also put paid to the hopes of British duo Christine Ohuruogu (women’s 400m) and Dwain Chambers, who perished at the semi-final stage of the men’s 100m.

As athletics community continue to debate Bolt’s disqualification we invite you to take a look at the footage below and judge for yourself. Bolt or Blake at fault? You decide…
