Exactly two year agos, German driver Sebastian Vettel won a record-equalling ninth race in a row at the Brazilian Grand Prix en-route to his fourth drivers’ championship.

The former Red Bull Racing star levelled the record set by Alberto Ascari in 1953, in his last championship-winning season for Red Bull.

Vettel’s 13th race victory of the 2013 campaign also meant he equalled Michael Schumacher’s 2004 feat with Ferrari.

1894: England and Yorkshire batsman Herbert Sutcliffe was born. He scored 4,555 runs in 54 Tests and scored more than 50,000 first-class runs between 1919 and 1945. He died aged 83 in 1978.

2001: Fifteen fans were injured after being hit by a car driven by two-time world champion Carlos Sainz at the Network Q Rally of Great Britain.

2014: Marco Mattiacci was axed as Ferrari team principal after just seven months in the job and replaced by Maurizio Arrivabene.
