Top seeds Javier Lopez and Mauricio Andrini record easy victories at Dubai Padel Masters

The top two pairings advanced to the third round of qualifying for the inaugural Dubai Padel Masters that is being played at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.

In the second-round matches, top seeds Javier Lopez and Mauricio Andrini defeated Xavier Masson and Asier Garabieta 6-1, 6-3 to advance to a third-round meeting against Francisco De Borja and Antonio Lozano. De Borja and Lozano were easy winners after Mohammed Al Ahli and George Green gave them a walkover.

Second seeds Emilio Misas and Pedro Rios also advanced with a clinical 6-0, 6-1 win over Sheikh Saeed Bin Hasher Al Maktoum and Mohammed Al Janahi.

Also heading into the third round of qualifying were six Emirati youngsters. In the second round, Mohammed Al Mansouri, Saeed Al Marri, Hassan Sharif, Eisa Al Marzouqi, Rashid Al Falasi and Omar Sharif all ensured they advanced towards a spot in the main draw of the competition.

Omar Sharif teamed up with the experienced Javier Molina to secure their second win in as many days with a 6-1, 6-1 result over Yazan Al Kassem and Chakib Jmai to set a meeting with Misas and Rios.

Saeed Al Marri and Hassan Sharif were also in good form as they got the better of Thomas Praming and Alan Douglas 6-2, 6-3, while Eisa Al Marzooqi and Rashid Al Falasi dug in deep to defeat Javier Ferrer and Miguel Manzanas 7-5, 6-3.

Mohammed al Mansouri was the last of the UAE players to go through when he teamed up with Guillermo Villafane to beat Juan Reyna and Ignacio Valenzuela 6-3, 6-4.

The main draw is scheduled to get under way from 4pm on Sunday.
