One of the greatest amateurs ever in golf, Bobby Jones completed the most unique achievement in the game when he won the calendar grand slam in 1930 by winning US Amateur Championship at the Merion Cricket Club in Ardmore.

During Jones’ time, the Open Championship, the US Open, the British Amateurs and the US Amateurs were considered the four majors. Jones’, who established the Masters in 1934, beat Eugene Homans 8 and 7 with over 18,000 fans walking with the two-ball that day.

After achieving the Slam, Jones quit the game at the age of 28.

Tiger Woods came close to matching Jones, winning four consecutive majors, but not in the same year.
