The 2006 US Open final marked the sixth consecutive meeting in a final between Andy Roddick and Roger Federer, and their third consecutive in the finals of a Grand Slam.

Federer broke Roddick twice early in the match to win the first set, but Roddick broke back to win the second and level the match.
The Swiss then completed a late break against prevent a tiebreak and break the American's resistance.
In the fourth set Federer cruised to a 6-1 victory in the fourth and final set to win his ninth career Grand Slam title, and his third (consecutive) US Open title.
