Dubai Sports World will once again be the UAE’s sporting home this summer as the cool venue hosts endless activities to combat the rising temperatures outdoors.

For two-and-a-half months, starting today and running until August 29, the largest indoor sporting facility in the emirate will bring together various sports, summer camps and tournaments to Dubai World Trade Centre, in association with Dubai Sports Council.

– A DAY WITH: Lebanon’s Davis Cup teenage ace Nour Nehme

The variety of sports on offer includes football, basketball, cricket, rugby, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, skateboarding, parkour and running, in addition to a gym with professional equipment and machines.

Summer camps for ages four to 16 will give kids the opportunity to have fun and develop their skills and abilities on the playing field.

IFA sporting academy will have both a football and basketball programme that will feature former professional athletes. The football academy will be supervised by ex-Premier League and England player Dale Gordon, while hoops will be run by Ishmael Awange, who played as a pro in the United States and China and won an NCAA championship.

KAFO Academy will have their own former star, Frederic Kanoute, a two-time African Footballer of the Year winner, leading his group of experienced coaches to deliver sessions jam-packed with drills and small-sided games.

G Force Cricket Academy will also be back with Gopal Jasapara, a former first-class cricketer, offering lessons for youngsters to improve mentally and physically, while Tennis 360 will hold a Cardio Tennis Clinic and a Ramadan Tennis Clinic for players of all abilities.

Dubai Sports World’s first-ever dedicated parkour obstacle course, in addition to having the Open Playground (OP), will house Against GraviTi’s Streetworkout for Strength and Parkour for Flow classes.

If you want to get together a group of friends or co-workers and take on fellow competitors in tournaments, you’ll have plenty to choose from.

The adidas #BeTheDifference 6-a-side football tournament is perfect for corporate and social teams of all ages and abilities, with teams wearing the kits of the clubs that qualified for the 2015 UEFA Champions League. Games will be held Tuesdays or Thursdays from June 23 to July 16 and up to Dh6,000 will be up for grabs.

Football lovers can also take part in DUPLAYS Ramadan Football Cup, which will also have fully-customised adidas kits, while the hoops crowd can take part in the DUPLAYS Ramadan 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on August 7.

More basketball action inc-ludes the DXB-UAE Conference Basketball, in which NBA fans can represent their favourite teams on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and the Dubai Sports World Basketball League, which will have an additional 16 teams hitting the court from July 6-30.
