21:36 26/03/2015

Sport can do cruel, wonderful or wild things to the mind. On this occasion, perhaps crazy is the best description as we look at the top five stadium dance-offs.

– GALLERY: Top Ten highest paid footballers

Referred to as the lord of the Riverdance on many occasions, this reporter has the chance to showcase the many magical moments from the various arenas worldwide.

1. One video doing the rounds on social media at the moment is the dance-off between a mascot and a security guard at a baseball game in Houston.

The security guard prevails on this occasion, such is the pace and deftness of his hips. He moves in mysterious ways, like a back-up dancer at a Nicki Minaj concert.

2. In an NBA All-Star game four years ago, a birdie and a sly fox danced-off in front of a packed Los Angeles crowd. This stiff contest was even more difficult to call a winner – with both competitors providing moments of hope and promise.

3. The giant, goofy and furry mascots of the NHL dance-off in vibrant fashion in Ohio for the coveted All-Star weekend. Every competitor gets a fair chance to impress their rivals; each combining sheer sharpness in the lower body with a composed mindset to ensure they don’t slip a hamstring or twinge a rotator cuff.

4. The video cuts back between different fans trying to express themselves, until… a young dancer captures the imagination of the fans with his eloquent, Michael Jackson-esque jig.

5. A dance-off between an 11-year-old and a stadium usher at a Detriot Pistons/New York Nicks game was viewed by over nine million people on YouTube.
