The UAE interest continued on day three of the CrossFit Games.

Abu Dhabi resident Jamie Green dominated again, improving her position to third overall in the women’s standings ahead of the final day.

The 28-year-old, who trains at CrossFit Yas in the UAE capital, placed 5th, 4th and 6th respectively in the Sprint, Split Triplet and Clean events on Saturday.

If Greene can continue her stunning form and finish on the podium on Sunday then it’ll cap off a memorable week for the Kiwi-born athlete, whose previous PB was eighth back in the 2017 Games.

In the men’s category, Abu Dhabi’s Elliot Simmonds missed the men’s cut after the field was reduced from 20 athletes to 10 following the morning workout.

The Englishman, another CrossFit Yas athlete, finished 19th overall after failing to make it through to the semi-finals of the Sprint event.

Signing off with a best-ever finish at the Games should boost the 25-year-old’s confidence when he leaves Chicago to return to the UAE early next week. His previous best at the Games was 26th in 2018.

In the team event, CrossFit Alioth from Dubai lie eighth overall after a strong third day. The Dubai-based quartet of Phil Hesketh, Mia Akerlund, Synne Krokstad and Alexander Elebro placed fifth in both the Sprint Relay and Big Chipper events.

CrossFit Freedom, led by four-time Games champion Rich Froning, currently lead the team event.
