The Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) opens this weekend with a carnival celebration to kick-start the 30×30 event. The event marks the return of the DFC, which sees thousands of people take part in a series of free activities across the city. Sports stars including boxer Badou Jack and former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen will be in attendance at the opening weekend at Dubai’s Festival City, as fans gather for two days of fun and fitness.

His Highness, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, will also be encouraging participants to experience over 30 sports sessions, more than 80 group classes and acts on stage throughout the festival.

Workout sessions include contemporary Boxercise, JumpRope Fit, Bodyweight Bootcamp, HIIT and Zumba, which will be provided by the city’s top fitness studios. Sixty bikes will also be in place for a mass spinning class. Those looking for extra cardio can take advantage of the two purpose-built football pitches, dragon boat racing and MMA zone.

For the young ones, there’s a plethora of things to keep them entertained such as a children’s obstacle course, climbing cone, trampoline area, and a special youngsters play area. The immensely popular Les Mills Born to Move classes will be back to inspire kids to get active and create an interest in physical activity amongst the youth.

When the exercise is over there’s plenty to do to, including a live DJ, prize giveaways, a light projection show and spectacular fireworks display on Friday night.

Dubai Fitness Challenge aims to motivate people to boost their physical activity and commit to 30 minutes of daily activity for 30 days. Running from October 26 to November 24, the Challenge encompasses all forms of activity – from beach cricket, cycling and football, paddle-boarding, team sports and yoga.

Participants can track their performance on the Dubai Fitness App. The opening weekend carnival takes place at Dubai Festival City from October 26-27. For more information, visit dubaifitnesschallenge.com.
