Manchester United opened their season with a hard-fought victory over Leicester despite Jose Mourinho’s disgruntlement over signings – now it’s the turn of transfer-starved Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino named a World Cup star-studded squad to take on Newcastle at St James’ Park, with Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris all among the starters. No new signings, of course – they became the first Premier League team not to make one since the transfer window was created in 2003.
