There’s still time to sign up for Duplays’ new ladies’ netball league which begins on Monday, November 24, in Dubai.

The leagues will be played at two different venues and levels of ability.

Dubai College and Collegiate American School will stage the division two leagues on Monday, while the latter will also host Tuesday’s division three matches, aimed at beginners.

‘Behind Netball Lines’ is one of the most popular leagues at Duplays, and following the conclusion of the latest edition, last month, organisers wasted no time in arranging another one.

“Our regular season has just come to an end and with only a few weeks remaining until the start of the new year, we decided to launch a new mini season of netball,” said Gareth Curtis, Dubai operations manager at Duplays.

He added: “It’s a good chance for new teams and players to give the sport a try because it’s fun and entertaining.

“The league will be four weeks and will end in mid-December. It’s much shorter than the usual nine week leagues and although it won’t have the knockout stages, it will still be fun for those who sign up.”

Regardless of your netball experience, anyone can join the league.

Curtis added: “The good thing about the league is that there are different levels.

Those who play the sport regularly can play in the Monday leagues while those who are less experienced can compete in division three on Tuesdays.

“The matches will be competitive and also social and the players range from different ages which is great to see.”

The entry fee is Dh1,700 per team but individuals can still sign up as a ‘free agent’ for those who do not belong to a team.

The leagues will be held in the evenings with each team playing one match per week. Several prizes are on offer for the successful teams at the end of the league season.
