The world’s best young athletes will descend on the UAE in February for The World School Games 2018 — a unique international multi-sport event that allows primary school students to showcase their talent, diversity, and sportsmanship.

Some of the most prestigious international schools from across the globe will attend the three-day event, which will be staged at Dubai Sports City. A minimum of 16 students (eight boys and eight girls) from each school will take part in swimming, athletics and football in a bid to accrue the most points and be crowned world champions.

“Sport is a universal language, and it has the power to unite people like nothing else on this planet,” says James Hair, a member of the World School Games board.

“We wanted to create a truly international event that brings people together from all over the world, breaks down social and cultural barriers, and celebrates the talents and diversity of children from different countries, backgrounds and education systems.”

Children will compete in swimming, athletics, and football.

Despite 2018 being the inaugural year, the competition has instantly captured the imaginations of schools from far and wide. Schools from Spain, Greece, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Uganda have registered to enter the Games so far. The first secondary edition is scheduled to take place in Dubai in February 2019.

UAE schools can register for the World Primary School Games by emailing: register@theworldschoolgames.com.
