Heading into the bout with Buster Douglas on this day 17 years ago, Mike Tyson was undefeated and considered a lethal pugilist that could put fear into any opponent.

Douglas, however, flipped the script and not only produced one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, but in sporting history when he knocked out Tyson in the 10th round for the heavyweight title.

The underdog, who entered with a pretty good record himself at 42-1, looked unafraid from the start. But Tyson nearly ended it when he sent Douglas to the canvas in the eighth round, only for him to emerge after a nine-second count.

Douglas fought back in the ninth round and landed the crushing blow in the 10th.
