13:43 19/10/2016

Van Rouwendaal, winner of the 10km open water race in Rio, joins the festival’s Emirati ambassadors, Nada Al Bedwawi – the UAE flag-bearer at the Rio 2016, and legendary swimmers the Al Jasmi Brothers.

The popular community event, now in its third edition and sponsored by Daman’s ActiveLife, will be held on Saturday October 29 at Emirates Palace Beach.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to compete across the globe and am still elated after my Rio Olympics win,” said Van Rouwendaal. “My happiness continues after being named the international ambassador for the Abu Dhabi Swimming Festival. I can’t wait to be part of the event and join the Al Jasmi Brothers and Nada Al Bedwawi in their homeland.”

The event, organised by Professional Sports Group in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, offers family fun and challenges for all age groups and abilities with seven different races held during the day.

Registration is now open at swimabudhabi.com and closes on October 22nd. Registration for all three Junior Splash Dash races is free to encourage the participation of children of all ages.
