Considered one of the greatest hockey players of all-time, ‘The Magnificent One’, who celebrates his 51st birthday today, has had a wildly successful career on and off the ice.

During his 17-year playing career, all spent with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he led the franchise to consecutive Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992, while winning the Conn Smythe Trophy.

Individually, he claimed the NHL’s MVP award three times and the Art Ross Trophy for the league’s points leader six times.

Lemieux finished with 690 goals and 1,033 assists for 1,723 points, ranking eighth in history, and a 0.754 goals-per-game average, ranking second all-time.

After retiring, he transitioned into ownership of the Penguins, guiding the team to Stanley Cups in 2009 and 2016 to be the only person to have his name on the Cup as both a player and owner.
