Figure-Skating: Abu Dhabi reclaim Desert Open title

12:48 04/12/2013

Abu Dhabi Figure Skating Team reclaimed their Desert Open title with a run-away victory at the Zayed Sports City ice-skating rink on Monday.

Teams from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain were joined by touring teams from Qatar and Kazakhstan. The event featured skaters of all ages, including children and adults, and the judges looked specifically at technical, artistic spotlight and footwork programmes.

The championship took competition in the sport to a new level here as it is the only figure skating competition in the UAE to have an independent judging panel.

This means so much in terms of accuracy and fairness.

RESULTS:
1) Abu Dhabi Figure Skating Team – 276 points
2) Al Nasr Leisureland – 207
3) Al Ain Mall – 94
4) Qatar Figure Skating Club – 60
5) Kazakhstan – 51
6) Dubai Mall – 44
7) Hyatt Regency Galleria Dubai – 31
