On this day: August 4, 2001 – Ronaldinho makes his bow in European football

On 4 August 2001, Brazilian starlet Ronaldinho made his debut for Paris Saint-Germain.

He came off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Auxerre. He went on to score 25 goals and provided 18 assists in 86 appearances and also won the 2001 Intertoto Cup in his two seasons at the club.

After the 2002-03 season, Barcelona signed him for €30 million.
