Abu Dhabi Racing junior driver Mohamed Al Mutawaa currently sits 10th in the overall standing of the JWRC with 16 championship points after finishing his last two races in 6th place.

The 22-year-old, last year’s MERC champion in 2WD category and Youth Cup champion, now heads to Rally France for the JWRC Tour de Corse test (Oct 1 – 4).

As a former Kart and circuit racing driver, the predominantly asphalt surface of Tour de Corse stages will suit his driving style.

Thanks to Al Mutawaa and co-driver Stephen McAuley, the UAE also sits in a provisional 6th place in the Nation’s Cup with 20 points, ahead of Germany, Hungary and Ireland.

He is the only Emirati representing the UAE and therefore the only team member contributing points towards the Nation’s Cup which makes it all the more impressive.

“I am very proud to be representing my country in the Junior World Rally Championship,” said Al Mutawaa.

“I have gained a huge amount of experience from the rallies I have taken part in so far. Despite having to retire from Rally Portugal because of a collision I still learned a lot when it came to the pace notes which has really helped during Rally Poland and Rally Finland.

“I really can’t wait to take part in my first rally on tarmac this season (Tour de Corse). I still have to work on my pace notes to make them more precise, because there are some details that need fine-tuning. The goal for this rally will be to improve our pace notes on the two runs in recce and see if the corrections help us to make progress.”
