Oliver Walton seals karting sprint race double at Dubai Kartdrome

Atef Al Barwani and Hussain Umid Ali scored a win apiece in the SWS RX7 Sprint races at the Kartdrome on Monday night, while Oliver Walton was unbeatable in the Junior LR4 category.

Al Barwani struck first by powering to pole position with a best lap of 1:12.042. In Race 1, Al Barwani and Umid Ali set the early pace and managed to break away from the pack.

They finished with Al Barwani winning by less than half a second. Behind them Rami Azzam was best of the rest in third.

Race 2 saw a three-way battle between Ali, Al Barwani and Azzam as the trio swapped fastest laps and set a hot pace.

Ali eventually managed to edge ahead and claim victory over Azzam in second and Al Barwani third. Behind them Basit claimed fourth, with Khan taking fifth after fending off sixth placed Karykowski.

Al Hamamdi was seventh, Porus Noshir eighth, George Clarke ninth and Anthony Hirst tenth. Earlier, Walton did the double, taking maximum points by winning both his heat races and then powering to a comfortable win in the SWS Junior LR4 Super Final.

Heat 2 winner Keanu Al Azhari was second overall in the heats, with Giacomo Caccia third thanks to his win in Heat 4. Behind Walton in the Super Final was Caccia in second and Seif Al Naggar third. Luis Velasco won the Final.

The next round of the series takes place at the Kartdrome on May 11.
