The popular track days returns to Dubai Autodrome this month where drivers and riders will be able to test their cars and bikes in Dubai’s famous motor track.

Since opening in 2004, the Dubai Autodrome Circuit has become the home of UAE national motorsport having hosted the NGK Racing Se­ries including the Clio Cup and the UAE Sportbike Championship.

And now amateur bike riders will be able to have a feel of the track on August 21 (club circuit, begin­ners level, starting at 16:30), while drivers can test their cars a week earlier on August 14 (club circuit, advanced and beginners) at 17:00 and 17:30 respectively. The track will also be open for advanced drivers on August 29 at 08:00 for national circuit.

While the national circuit length is 3.56km, which is less than 2km of the full Grand Prix circuit track, the club circuit is 2.46km. The par­ticipants will spend approximately one to two hours on the track.

It’s one of the popular events for the public at Dubai Autodrome and it’s easy to understand why.

“These days are not for those who want to purely race on the track,” said Paul Velasco, com­munications manager at Dubai Autodrome.

“It’s an opportunity for drivers and riders to enjoy the experience of riding or driving on a circuit and for them to explore the perform­ance of their own cars and bikes in controlled and safe environment.”

It promises to be a great day out, and if it’s your first time participat­ing in a track day, you must have a full valid driving licence.

For those participating in the cars advanced category, you must either be in possession of a full driving licence and taken part in a novice track day at Dubai Auto­drome, hold a current competi­tions licence or show proof of a confirmation letter stating you have participated in track days at other motor clubs.

Drivers and riders will have to adhere to strict rules with Dubai Autodrome taking safety very seri­ously.

In the bikes category, riders must wear full leathers and boots. The bikes must have front facing light and must be secured to the front for the motorcycle.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory (and gloves for bikes), which can be hired for Dh50 for the session.

Registrations can be done on the day but fans are advised to arrive early.
