Not intimidated even after classifying fourth in qualifying, Al Saadi upped the ante and classified in second in the Heat, Pre-Final and Final. He clocked the fastest laps on those last three crucial races that gave him the final championship silverware in third place in the Cadet class.

His team-mate in the junior category Amna Al Qubaisi, was unfortunate, being on the pace throughout the day but being pushed out in the Final when challenging for the top spot.

Ali Al Shamsi in the Cadet class too was in contention for a podium finish until technical glitches forced him to retire.

Al Saadi said: “I am very happy to be on the podium in the final race of the season. I worked very hard for this and I am very thankful to my coach and the DSA.

“It was also nice to be the fastest in the Heat, Pre-Final and Final. Now I am looking forward to the next season!”

Khaled Al Qubaisi, DSA Founder and Chairman, said: “It was a good day of racing and fantastic experience for our junior drivers. Their performance and pace was great though some were unlucky.

“Ahmed Al Saadi was great and could have actually won but he unfortunately did not have that good a start which is why he dropped to third but eventually went up to second.”
