  • The Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals will take place in Dubai for the first time ever next month as the best drifters in the Middle East battle it out for the title of ‘King of the Drift’.

The high octane racing event will take place on November 8 – the penultimate day of the Dubai Motor Festival – as 17 contestants from across the region compete at the Dubai World Trade Centre having booked their place from their respective country qualifiers.

Spectators will be kept on the edge of their seats as they watch the Middle East’s top drifters put pedal to metal to showcase high-speed and powerful gear-shifting, steering, braking and power sliding techniques.

“We are delighted to be hosting the Red Bull Middle East Car Park Drift Regional Finals as part of the Dubai Motor Festival,” said Senior Vice-President of Dubai World Trade Centre Trixie LohMirmand.

“This is an event that adds pace, adrenalin and global reach for Dubai as the regional leader of motoring.”

The Red Bull Cark Park Drift Regional Finals joins two other events organised as part of the inaugural Dubai Motor Festival – the Dubai International Motor Show, the most influential motoring event in the Middle East, and the Dubai Car Parade, a convoy through the streets of Dubai of super, luxury and classic cars to be led by the Dubai Police fleet of high performance cars.

''The Dubai International Motor Show has developed into a global milestone in the automotive industry, and we are thrilled to contribute to this great manifestation by bringing the Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals to Dubai for the first time ever'', said Alberto Chahoud, Area Communication Manager for Red Bull.

''With the best drifting contestants from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Bulgaria, battling it out for the coveted title of 'King of Drift', we promise spectators a world class event that will exceed their expectations,” added Chahoud.

In what promises to be the most exciting drift competition the region has ever witnessed, competitors will need to impress the judges as well as the crowds in their bid to be crowned champion.

The points system will be made up 70 per cent from the actual art of drift, 10 per cent on the engines’ roar and tyre smoke, 10 per cent by crowd reaction, and the rest made up by the appearance of the car.

The Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals will take place between 9.00pm and 11.30pm, with standing tickets priced at Dhs55 and Dhs200 for seated grandstand. For more information, visit www.redbullmea.com/cpd.
