Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally team strengthened their overall position in the manufacturers’ championship after Mads Ostberg and Kris Meeke came 4th and 5th respectively securing 22 points for the team.

Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi finished the rally in 15th overall with his co-driver Chris Patterson, following steady but cautious driver.

Al Qassimi said: “Overall I have really enjoyed Rally Spain, particularly the tarmac stages; the feeling behind the wheel of the DS 3 WRC was fantastic on tarmac. Unfortunately, we had a problem with the handbrake at the end of SS7. 

“I would have liked to push more; we had to remain reasonably cautious to keep out of trouble.”

In JWRC, Abu Dhabi Racing Junior driver, Mohamed Al Mutawaa and co-driver Stephen McAuley finished fourth to move up to 7th place in the standings with 28 points.

Al Mutawaa said: “Our goal was to finish the rally inside the top five and I am delighted to say that we achieved a good result. I think our pace-notes have improved a lot. It was nice event and I really enjoyed the tarmac stages.”

Next up is the final event on the 2015 calendar: Wales Rally GB, which takes place on 12-15 November.
