Christian Horner says a tyre war would be bad for F1, despite fans calling for a move away from a single tyre supplier.

Results from the Grand Prix Drivers Association (GPDA) fan survey saw 80% of respondents calling for more than one tyre manufacturer in F1. However, speaking before he was aware of the result, Horner warned against such a move because he believes it would lead to certain teams becoming more dominant.

"First of all I think it should be one make," Horner said. "I don’t think we should open to competition because then that comes out with two predominant teams and the other teams just get what the others don’t want.

"I think we should go back to wider tyres, we should get to more aggressive looking cars, more mechanical grip, I think that’s where we’re at the moment."

The current regulations only allow for one tyre supplier, with the FIA set to choose between Pirelli and Michelin for the next contract which will begin in 2017.
