Sebastian Vettel says Ferrari has “made it incredibly easy” for him to perform this season thanks to the support he has been receiving from the team.

After a winless final year with Red Bull in 2014, Vettel has been in fine form so far at Ferrari, taking victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix and finishing on the podium in four of the other five races. While saying he and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen both feel comfortable with the SF15-T, Vettel also praises Ferrari for the environment it has created for him to be able to perform at a high level.

“This year's car suits me quite well, I think both of us – Kimi and myself – really liked the feeling of the car from the first test onwards,” Vettel said at the launch of the new Shell V-Power Nitro+ in Montreal.

“Last year was a tricky year, looking back now there were a lot of things that didn’t come together. I think towards the end it was getting a lot better but we started off on a different foot this year so it makes a big difference if you feel comfortable straight away.

“Obviously it’s a new team, there’s a lot of new things that I had to adapt to and I had to learn but I think slowly we are getting on top of that. The team has made it incredibly easy for me by really supporting me and helping me in every possible way to try to extract my performance.”

And Vettel is hopeful an upgrade to the Ferrari power unit will help the team close the gap to Mercedes in Montreal.

“They are the favourites going in so it will be tough but hopefully we can be a bit closer. We have a little update on the engine which should maybe help a bit and then we will just try to get in to the rhythm which is very important round here. We’ll try to start off on the right foot and go from there.”
