Lewis Hamilton is fully expecting his rejuvenated relationship with Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to be tested to the limit again this Formula One season.

In going head-to-head for last year’s world championship, Hamilton and Rosberg occasionally became embroiled in a bitter feud, notably following specific incidents in Monaco and Belgium.

With Mercedes again expected to dominate this season, it means the fight for the drivers’ crown is likely to be another face-off between reigning champion Hamilton and Rosberg.

“Our relationship seems quite good, to be honest,” assessed Hamilton.

“But it’s before the season starts, and when you get in the heat of the moment…

“You have to assume there are going to be moments during the year where there are going to be small bits of tension, but that’s because we’re fierce competitors within the same team.

"Last year, at points we particularly managed it well, and at the end we managed it really well, so I think going into this year we’ll do it better.”

As for this season, Hamilton is expecting to come out all guns blazing, adding: “I’m sure Nico is trying to train harder. I’m sure he will try everything under the sun to make sure he finishes ahead of me. But that’s what I’ve been facing since I was 10, so it’s no different really.”
