Williams duo Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa are both in no doubt that they can claim a win for the team before the end of the year.

Between them Bottas and Massa have been on the podium five times in the past six grands prix, with the Finn claiming four of those. The win, however, has so far remained elusive for the Enstone-based marque that has taken the chequered flag just once in the last 10 years.

This season Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have won 10 of the 13 races between them, with six for the former, while Daniel Ricciardo in his Red Bull has claimed three.

With just six grands prix available to again stand on the top step – Formula One’s only night race in Singapore is first up this weekend – the clock is ticking.

Massa, back on the podium with third last time out in Italy – his first top-three finish for 26 races – would like to believe he can again take the chequered flag after a sixyear drought.

Ahead of the race, Massa said: “This is a track where we could suffer a bit more, yet still competitive.

“But this is a track where so many things could happen that could change the result – accidents, something. We just need to do our best.

“But I believe we can be very good at most of the tracks through to the end of the championship.

“As for a win, I hope so, but it won’t be easy. If Lewis and Nico have some issues then that could help.”

As for Bottas, twice a runner-up in Silverstone and Hockenheim, he is of the same mind as Massa, appreciating Williams may need help from Mercedes if they are to claim a win.

“It’s still possible. We’ve six races left, so six opportunities,” he said. “You never know what is going to happen in a grand prix, and we still have some updates to bring to the car.

“If we can get a bit more pace, and we get lucky, then I really think it’s possible.”
