Lewis Hamilton was victorious in the Italian Grand Prix thanks to a crucial blunder from Mercedes rival Nico Rosberg. The British driver has now closed the gap to 22 points in the drivers' championship.

Rosberg still finished in second so he won't be too disheartened as he still holds a confortable lead at the top with six races to go.

The German's mistake came when he went straight on instead of turning a corner before negotiating the slalom of the barriers. He did this twice during the GP. It was relatively harmless the first time but when he repeated this mistake he got punished by Hamilton.

Here are the standings from the race (Top 10):

1. Lewis Hamilton- Mercedes
2. Nico Rosberg- Mercedes
3. Felipe Massa- Williams
4.Valtteri Bottas- Williams
5. Daniel Ricciardo- Red Bull
6. Sebastien Vettel- Red Bull
7. Sergio Perez- Force India
8. Jenson Button- McLaren
9. Kimi Raikkonen- Ferrari
10. Kevin Magnussen- McLaren
