Wolff weighing up her F1 future

Susie Wolff now faces “the million dollar question” as to where her Formula One career goes from here.

As part of her planned programme as Williams’ development driver, the 31-year-old Scot completed the first practice session for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim yesterday.

When asked where she goes from here, Wolff replied: “That’s the million dollar question – what comes next?

“It’s difficult because it was only ever planned for me to do two practice one sessions this season, and that’s the second one done now.

“It’s tough, and that’s the big trouble in Formula One, to get in the car and get more time in the car. Time in the car counts for a lot, because the more laps you do the better it feels.”

Wolff made history as she became the first woman for 22 years to take part in a race weekend, and only the sixth overall, at the British Grand Prix a fortnight ago. Reliability issues meant that outing was short-lived.

She seemed blighted by a similar fate yesterday on her first out-lap, but this time she mercifully coasted back to the garage where the team rectified a minor electrical issue.

Wolff went on to complete 22 laps, finishing 15th on the timesheet, just a quarter of a second behind team-mate Felipe Massa.
