Lewis Hamilton stormed to pole position at the Bahrain Grand Prix, a race the Brit has won twice before.
Hamilton’s Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg finished second to secure the German team another one-two start.
Ferrari’s qualifying challenge looked promising until the final few laps, until the Mercedes cars increased their lead over the Italian team to a half a second.
Sebastian Vettel will start third ahead of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, while F1 debutant Stoffel Vandoorne out-qualified McLaren team-mate Jenson Button, the pair finishing 12th and 14th respectively.
