Does your New Year’s resolution involve being a more healthier you? If so, one way to get on the path is by taking part in the third race of the GO Sport Asics Run Series.

The 4, 8 and 12km run event, sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council and UAE Athletics Federation, will be held on Saturday, January 9 at The Track Meydan Golf Club.

Youngsters can take on the shortest distance with the 4km run, open to age groups of eight and under, nine to 12, 13 to 18 and 19 and over. Those wanting to tackle the 8 and 12km lengths can do so in age groups of 18 and under, 19 to 39, 40 to 49 and 50-plus.

With the Asics Run Series forming part of the GO Sport Super Series where athletes qualifying for a series ranking have a chance of winning an all-expenses paid trip to Thanyapura, Thailand, there are plenty of reasons to get in on the action.

“With the cooler weather we are experiencing and the last chance to get in some competitive times before the Dubai Marathon, we are looking forward to the UAE running community joining us for this race,” said Warren van der Merwe, race director from Super Sports Events, organisers of the race.

“We have partnered with Physique TV for the rest of this season as our official media partner, so many runners will be able to see themselves on TV and be interviewed by the Physique TV Crew.

“We have had a lot of interest from corporate and community based groups wanting to bring runners down and organise a friendly challenge amongst themselves.”

Following the races, a prize-giving is scheduled where the top three overall winners in both male and female categories in the age groups will be recognised.

The entry fee is Dh100 for juniors and Dh150 for adults, along with a 50 per cent discount offered to families of four or more that enter.

Registration, which closes on Wednesday, January 6 and can be done at www.supersportsdubai.com, includes finisher medals, vouchers, race certificates, live results, and fruit and refreshments.

On the day, warm up and registration will begin at 06:00, followed by the 8 and 12km at 07:00 and the 4km at 07:05. All runners will have to complete their respective courses by 08:30.
