The UAE’s first-ever Beach Run has arrived to get lovers of fitness and the sandy shores up and active.
The inaugural fun-filled family event will take place on Saturday, January 16 at Umm Suqeim Beach Park, Jumeirah, next to Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

With different distances and options available, the Beach Run is suitable for runners of all abilities and ages.
Whether you’re an experienced runner, new to the sport or just looking for an enjoyable way to get some exercise, the event is perfect for all.
And with it coming in early January, it’s a great time to kick-start your 2016 health and fitness goals in the best possible way.
Didier Brun, publisher and deputy CEO of Sport360, organisers of the Beach Run, said: “The objective of the beach run is two-fold: to create a large community event on the beach as we realised that all major sporting events actually take place in-land while the country is blessed with a stunning coast line, as well as to continue to further our mission to get residents of the UAE to lead a more active and healthier lifestyle.
“With the event taking place on January 16, this is the perfect opportunity to kick off the new year on the right foot.
“And for the more experienced runners, it will be the ideal warm-up to the Dubai Marathon taking place the following weekend.”
There will be a 1.8km Family Run, open to all runners, in addition to a 3.6km Fun Run for more adventurous runners, and a 7.2km Serious Run for avid runners.
After tackling the run, participants, supporters and spectators can enjoy the carnival-like Festival Village, which will be packed full of music, entertainment, activities and food.
The entry fee for the Beach Run is Dh99 for the early birds before December 31, Dh119 from January 1 to January 10 and Dh139 for last minute sign-ups from January 11 to January 14. All children aged six to 12 can register for Dh79, while kids under five are free.
