If you're a cycling enthusiast looking for a place to safely & freely push those pedals, or a sweet spot for the kids to cycle, we've taken the hassle out of the search with this list of tracks and trails to make it easy for you to clip on your helmet and hop behind the handlebars!

Al Qudra Cycle Path
Driven by Sheik Mohammed's vision for a more cycle friendly city, 2012 saw the completion of the 84km loop that provides serious cyclists the chance for a smooth, long and unencumbered journey.

With a total length of about 86 kilometres from start to finish, the first part of the track runs for 18 kilometres before giving long-distance enthusiasts the chance to take on the further 50 kilometres of the second track. This unique and scenic loop is an opportunity to ride through the picturesque dunes and grab a cup of coffee from the famous Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa to refuel.

The whole course is lit by night (although for safety reasons you still need to have lights on your bike) and has all the necessary facilities including restrooms and changing rooms equipped with showers and lockers.

Worth the ride, Nad Al Sheba is a great place to bike for all ages with a breath taking view of the skyline of Downtown Dubai.

Dubai Autodrome
The Dubai Autodrome normally roars to the tune of sports cars and motorbikes, but for 3 hours every Wednesday evening, it is taken up by cyclists, joggers and roller bladers. From 6 to 9 pm, cyclists who bring their own bike and helmet are invited to lap the 2.46 km track under floodlights.

The free night attracts a mix of experienced and beginner cyclists all looking to train somewhere without the worry of motorists and traffic. The closed circuit has on-site support and guidance for cyclists and operates strictly on a "no helmet no ride" policy.

Yas Marina Circuit Abu Dhabi
Training Yas welcomes participants of all levels and speeds to get on the F1 track on Tuesday evenings from 6 – 9 pm. The weekly Train YAS evenings are free entry for all and offer a unique, safe and friendly training ground for pedal buffs. The circuit is 5.5km long with bright floodlights and strict rule of wearing a helmet. To attend Train YAS you will need to register for your Train YAS ID card, which you can do so here and your card can be collected at the Train YAS registration point.

Al Mushrif Park
Located on Al Khawaneej Road, Mirdif, the Mushrif Park has a 5km dedicated cycle track that loops around the outside of the park which only has two road crossings. The track undulates its way around the dunes of the park so it's a good opportunity to try out your gears.

Although it gets some light from the nearby roads in sections you will need a good light on your bike as it is not well it at night. The park is open until 11 pm most nights and there is an entrance fee of Dh 10 per car or Dh 3 per person. If you don't have your own bike, you can rent one by the hour.

Al Barsha Park
There are no entry fees for admittance to this lovely family park in Al Barsha. The cycling track is 1500m long and ideally suited for casual cycling or children. The park is open from 8:00 am till 10:00 pm.

Jumeirah Open Beach Track
At the open Beach in Jumeirah (opposite the Jumeirah Mosque) there is a 1.5 – 2 km cycle path for children to enjoy an organic bike ride.

Al Mamzar Beach Park
Al Mamzar Beach Park offers a very nice spot for recreation with different sports facilities available. Aspiring cyclists have a chance to go around the park with bikes which can be rented on-site, or one can also rent roller-skates!
