There’s still time to register if you want to take part in the fourth edition of the Ignite Pink is Punk Swim: Run event, taking place on Friday, October 10.

Taking place at Anantara The Palm Resort in Dubai at 07:15, it promises to be bigger and better with every single penny raised being donated to the Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness Programme.

Open to 12-year-olds and over, there are different categories to choose from whether it’s individual or team events.

The Open category consists of 600m swim, 3km beach and pavement run, while the Sprint event is 400m swim and a 1.6km beach and pavement run.

Juniors can enjoy a 200m swim and a 800m beach run, while there is also the Fun Run which consists of 3km beach and pavement run.

Every 30 seconds a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. With this alarming statistic in mind Guillaume Mariole, founder and managing director of Ignite fitness and wellness, began the vision of a healthy, active event to encourage participation whilst contributing to a cause close to his heart.

It will be the fourth year the event has been run and Mariole is calling for more to take part.

“Each year the smiles on the faces of the participants and the growing numbers really reinforces community spirit to get behind such a great cause,” said Mariole, whose company has committed to contributing to the community with this wonderful event raising funds in support for the Safe and Sound Breast Cancer awareness programme.

“Ignite fitness and wellness supports many other external events and causes and has created this event as a way to make a bigger impact on contribution to the cause.

"Last year, we had over 450 people take part and every year it’s just gone from strength to strength. Since the initiative started, we have raised over Dh120,000 to date which is a fantastic total.”

Around 40 prizes will be awarded during the event while each participant will receive a certificate and goody bag.

Mariole said your presence will make a huge difference. He said: “It’s about giving something back to a great charity.
“A lot of women suffer from breast cancer and whatever we can do around the community, will certainly help.

“It can also educate the children on how important of exercising as we want to promote a healthy lifestyle.”
