It’s the middle of summer and the temperature is on the higher side but you can still reach your fitness goals by taking part in Fit Republik’s free Boot Camps which are sure to get you motivated.

Taking place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday until mid- September at Dubai Sports City Soccer Dome, the Boot Camps can accommodate up to 50 people.

The programme is run by two of Fit Republik’s senior personal trainers, Nick Malloy and Marian Stoican. Malloy is a Guinness World Record holder in weight lifting and in the UK’s top 100 fastest runners over 400 metres, while Stoican is a former member of the Romanian Olympic gymnastics team and the first ever Romanian European junior gymnastics champion.

The duo is attempting to turn the tough summer days into a time to kick-start a healthier lifestyle with a safe workout regime.

“Summer in the UAE is typically a period of low physical activity because of the high temperatures experienced at this time of year,” said Malloy. “Understandably, people can feel quite lethargic and getting motivated to become fit or maintain fitness can be a challenge. We devised these Boot Camps to help Dubai’s residents reach their fitness potential in what is the most energy sapping time of year.”

The Boot Camps start with a warm-up and then move into routines incorporating equipment such as medicine balls, steppers and nets, focusing on plyometric and callisthenic exercises. Plyometrics deal with muscles exerting maximum force in a short period of time to work on speed and power, while calisthenics use rhythmical movements to improve flexibility and body strength.

“Our Boot Camps programme places an emphasis on cardio exercises that build participants anaerobic and aerobic fitness levels at a greater level than other styles of working out,” said Stoican. “They also work out more muscles than regular exercises, so you get much better results in the time available. All of the exercises in our Boot Camps take place on the artificial pitch of the Soccer Dome, a surface that provides great impact absorbency, so there is minimal risk of injury for those attending the sessions.”

Open to anyone aged eight years and above, the programme is ideal for both children and adults. Two classes are offered during the day, with one at 11:30 for both children and adults, and one at 18:00 for adults only.

Before Fit Republik’s health and fitness club opens in October, their Boot Camps will get you in top shape this summer.
