The weekend is definitely the time to switch off, relax, catch up with friends and enjoy some time to yourself.

But, it’s also a great opportunity to squeeze in an extra gym session, feel good and prepare to start the new week with plenty of energy.

We all have hectic lifestyles in the UAE and it’s a great feeling when the weekend does come around.

And by following these simple steps, we hope you can make the most of your time off.

KICK OFF THE WEEKEND WITH A MORNING WORKOUT

If you’re an early bird, then make the most of your ability to get out of bed early!

Get outdoors, take in some fresh air, run or hit the gym for a bit longer than you usually would on Friday or Saturday.

Releasing positive endorphins through exercise, especially in the morning, will make you feel fit and happy.

A bit of exercise is golden for giving you the sensation that you’re unbeatable for the rest of the day.

It’s also a good time to reflect, recharge and importantly refocus.

DON’T OVER EAT OR DRINK

Yes, we can tend to over-indulge at the weekend but try and stick to your normal nutrition habits.

That means regular meals, cutting out unhealthy snacks, and staying as hydrated as possible – even if you are drinking other beverages in between.

TAKE A BREAK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

We are all guilty of spending too much time on social media and on our phones in general.

Both are, of course, a big part of everyone’s daily lives now but try and forget about online media for at least a few hours.

Going about your weekend without being in touch with the world (for a bit anyway) is actually a very good feeling!

TRY SOMETHING NEW

There’s plenty to do in the UAE!

Try a new activity, check out a new restaurant or get in touch with some old friends you haven’t seen for ages.

It feels good to mix-up your routine and be productive, some people like it that way.

PLAN YOUR WEEK AHEAD ON SATURDAY EVENING

We all have the ‘Sunday morning blues’ sentiment, however, by planning your week ahead you will feel a lot happier with what’s to come.

Preparation underpins everything you do!
