The reason is morning light has higher levels of blue light, which helps to regulate your circadian rhythms and energy levels.

As the saying goes “the early bird catches the worm”, well in the case of weight management that early bird also counts more calories. Early morning training is the way to go when it comes to achieving your most effective fat-loss workout.

Recent research continues to suggest that early am, pre-breakfast workouts help maximise fat loss during the workout and help prime your body for all-day fat burn. Why? Because your body draws on fat reserves for fuel instead – think fasted training, rather than fed training which is using your latest meal as energy for your workout.

Doing your early morning workout outdoors is also recommended as there is another reason to set your alarm a bit earlier.

A study from Northwestern University suggests people who get their sunshine fix in the morning have a better BMI than those who had their light exposure later. The reason is morning light has higher levels of blue light, which helps to regulate your circadian rhythms and energy levels.

By waking up and getting active earlier in your day you also have more time in your day to get tasks completed, and with more energy as your body is now functioning at 100%.

Research has also shows that exercise helps to keep stress levels down, so by exercising in the mornings you will find it easier to deal with those stressful work situations.
